Installing BC2BC on BigCommerce

Step-by-Step Guide to Install, Configure & Start Using BC2BC

This guide walks you through the complete installation process for BC2BC on your BigCommerce store — from finding the app in the Marketplace to connecting with your first partner store and syncing products and orders automatically.

Before You Begin

  • An active BigCommerce store with Store owner access.
  • Permission to install apps on the store (Store Owner).
  • Basic familiarity with the BigCommerce admin dashboard.

No additional plugins or downloads are required. BC2BC runs entirely as a BigCommerce app and connects directly to your store via the BigCommerce API.

Step-by-Step: Install BC2BC on BigCommerce

Open the Marketplace

To get started with BC2BC, you need to install it from the BigCommerce App Marketplace. There is no separate plugin or download required — everything runs directly through BigCommerce.

  • Log in to your BigCommerce admin panel at store.mybigcommerce.com/manage.
  • From the left sidebar, click on AppsMarketplace.
  • Use the search bar at the top and type "BC2BC".

Pro Tip

Make sure you're logged in as the Store Owner or an admin with app installation permissions. Standard staff accounts may not be able to install apps.

Install the App

Once you find BC2BC in the Marketplace, install it directly onto your BigCommerce store.

  • Click on the BC2BC app listing.
  • Click "Get This App" or "Install".
  • BigCommerce will show a list of permissions the app needs — these include access to your products, orders, categories, and store information.
  • Click "Confirm" to grant the required permissions and complete the installation.

Required Permissions

BC2BC requires the following permissions to function properly:

  • Products (read/write) — To sync your product catalog and create imported products.
  • Orders (read/write) — To automatically forward orders between stores and sync fulfillment status.
  • Categories & Brands (read) — To sync your catalog structure for filtering and organization.
  • Store Information (read) — To identify and connect your store within BC2BC.

Pro Tip

All permissions are used strictly for synchronization between stores. BC2BC does not modify any existing data on your store unless you explicitly initiate an import or order sync.

The Onboarding Screen

After installing BC2BC, you'll be taken to the onboarding screen where you choose how your store will operate within the BC2BC network. This is a one-time setup step.

SUPPLIERSupplier

Choose this role if you want to:

  • Publish your product catalog so other BigCommerce stores can import your products.
  • Receive orders from distributors who sell your products on their stores.
  • Manage connection requests and control which distributors can access your catalog.

DISTRIBUTORDistributor

Choose this role if you want to:

  • Import products from supplier stores and sell them on your own BigCommerce store.
  • Apply your own pricing rules (markups, formulas) to imported products.
  • Have customer orders automatically forwarded to the supplier for fulfillment.

What Happens Next

Once you select your role, BC2BC will immediately begin an initial sync of your store data — pulling all your products, categories, and brands into the BC2BC system. This typically takes a few minutes depending on your catalog size. You'll see a progress indicator on your dashboard.

Pro Tip

Your role is tied to your store. If you operate multiple BigCommerce stores, you can install BC2BC on each one — one as a Supplier and others as Distributors.

How Connections Work

BC2BC uses a connection-request system to link Supplier and Distributor stores. A Distributor initiates the connection, and the Supplier approves it.

DISTRIBUTORFor Distributors — Connecting to a Supplier

Navigate to Connect Suppliers in the sidebar and click "Connect New Supplier".

  • Enter the Supplier's Store Hash — this is a unique identifier the supplier can share with you. It's displayed on their dashboard in the Store Info card.
  • BC2BC will look up the supplier store and display its information.
  • Click "Send Request" to send a connection request.
  • The request will appear as Pending until the Supplier approves it.

SUPPLIERFor Suppliers — Approving Distributors

Navigate to Connection Requests in the sidebar to view incoming requests from distributors.

  • Review each request and click Approve to grant catalog access, or Reject to decline.
  • Once approved, the distributor can browse and import products from your catalog.
  • You can also assign a Price List and rename the distributor for easier identification.

Free Trial & Distributor Limits

BC2BC includes a 7-day free trial for suppliers. During the trial, you can connect with 1 distributor. To connect with more distributors, upgrade to a paid plan from the Subscription page. Each plan tier includes a different number of distributor slots.

Pro Tip

The easiest way to connect is for the Supplier to share their Store Hash directly with the Distributor (e.g., via email). The Distributor then enters it in the Connect Suppliers page.

DISTRIBUTORSending an Import Request

Once your connection is approved, go to Supplier Products in the sidebar. Here you can browse the supplier's entire product catalog.

  • Click the "Import" button to create an import request.
  • Choose how to import: by Category, Brand, or SKU.
  • Select the specific categories, brands, or SKUs you want to import.
  • Submit the request — it will be sent to the supplier for approval.

SUPPLIERApproving Import Requests

Go to Import Requests in the sidebar to view pending import requests from your connected distributors. Once you approve a request, the selected products will be automatically created in the distributor's BigCommerce store.

Automatic Updates

Once products are imported, BC2BC keeps them synchronized on a regular interval. This means any changes to the supplier's product data (name, description, images, inventory, pricing) will be automatically updated in the distributor's store — no manual action needed.

Pro Tip

Before importing, you must set up a Global Pricing Rule in the Pricing Rules page. This ensures every imported product gets a selling price based on your markup strategy. BC2BC will remind you if this step is missing.

How It Works

BC2BC automates the entire order flow between Distributor and Supplier stores, so you never need to manually create orders or update statuses.

Order Flow

  • A customer places an order on the Distributor's BigCommerce store for an imported product.
  • BC2BC detects the order and automatically creates a corresponding order in the Supplier's BigCommerce store.
  • The Supplier fulfills the order and updates the status (e.g., marks it as "Shipped" with tracking info).
  • The fulfillment status and tracking information are automatically synced back to the Distributor's store.
  • The customer on the Distributor's store sees the updated shipping status without any manual intervention.

Viewing Orders

Both Suppliers and Distributors can view and track all synced orders from the Orders page in the sidebar. Each order shows the linked products, current status, and fulfillment details.

Pro Tip

Order synchronization happens in real-time via webhooks. If there's any delay, you can check the Sync Logs page for detailed information about each sync event.

You're All Set!

Congratulations! You've completed the installation and initial setup of BC2BC. Your stores are now connected and ready to sync products and orders automatically.
